Matt Glassmeyer

Matt was born to a nice family. They let him make a lot of noise and never complained. He went to school and college where he made a lot of noise and laughed at stuff. He went to New York to make noise and that is where he is today. In the meantime he paid bills, fed himself, found places to live, made some friends, kept the tax man away and laughed at some stuff. People were very nice to him for the most part.

A New York resident and maker of noise who mostly plays the tenor saxophone, he has performed with Bift, Twelve 20 Six, DDYGG, Federico Ughi, The Delphia Jazz Orchestra, George Rush, Greg Joseph, Jason Wildman, Sunny Jain Collective, Sean Moran Quartet and many others. In recent years he has given numerous performances at renowned venues for instrumental music such as The 55 Bar, The Knitting Factory and Cornelia St. Cafe. Matt recently composed music for the Wall-to-Wall Joni Mitchell event at Symphony Space in NYC.

He is co-founder of NCM East Records which represents over 40 New York improvisers. Matt has co-produced six records of his own groups for this label. Matt Glassmeyer also has developed the amplified contra-alto clarinet, the shuitar, brass technique on the saxophone and a variety of percussion instruments.
